Frequently asked questions

Are my images uploaded?

No. Your images stay on your device and are processed by your browser. They are never uploaded to a server, and you do not need an account.

How is JPG different from JPEG?

JPG and JPEG are two file extensions for the same image format. This page creates a new JPG image. To change only the extension and keep the image data exactly as it is, use JPEG to JPG.

What happens to transparent pixels?

Transparent areas get a white background because JPG cannot store transparency. Quality starts at 90% and can be adjusted. Conversion usually removes metadata, such as photo details, and may change color profiles.

Which files can I convert?

Use static images: up to 20 files per batch, 20 MiB per file, 25 megapixels and 10,000 pixels per dimension. Animated and multi-frame images are not supported. Files are checked by their contents, not just their names.
