When to use this converter

Some saved images use the .jfif extension even though they contain JPEG data. Convert them to PNG when an app requires that format; renaming the extension alone does not produce a PNG.

How to use JFIF to PNG

  1. Choose your images or drop them into the converter.
  2. Check the file list, then select Convert to PNG.
  3. Download each result or save all successful images in a ZIP.

Frequently asked questions

Are my images uploaded?

No. Your images stay on your device and are processed by your browser. They are never uploaded to a server, and you do not need an account.

What is a JFIF file?

JFIF is a common way of storing JPEG images. Some downloads use a .jfif extension. This tool checks that the file contains a valid JPEG image and converts its decoded pixels to PNG.

Can I also choose a JPG or JPEG file?

Yes. JFIF, JPG and JPEG files can contain the same JPEG encoding. The converter accepts valid JPEG-encoded images, regardless of those extension aliases.

Does PNG preserve transparency?

Yes. PNG keeps transparent areas and saves the decoded image without further lossy compression. It cannot restore detail already lost in the original. Conversion may change color profiles, bit depth or metadata, so original HDR and photo details are not guaranteed to be kept.

Which files can I convert?

Use static images: up to 20 files per batch, 20 MiB per file, 25 megapixels and 10,000 pixels per dimension. Animated and multi-frame images are not supported. Files are checked by their contents, not just their names.
